Berlin Germany, Day 2!

Confession: Dave and I didn't wake up until 4pm today. Yes, it sounds pathetic! However, our sleep schedules are both pretty messed up, and we ended up taking naps last night around midnight, then waking up for an hour before falling back asleep for another hour, and then I woke up at 6:00am after having a crazy nightmare and then didn't fall back asleep for a while. UGH.

Luckily, since Dave didn't start playing til 8:00PM, we still had time to walk around the city a bit. We also visited Tiergarten. It is the largest urban park in Germany and spans over 200 acres! I should put my running shoes on tomorrow and take a jog through it!

I have some pictures to show. I will be taking more tomorrow, including of these crazy pink pipes that run throughout the city.

Potsdamer Platz train station.

Clock tower...that has red and green lights on it? Correction (4/22/2012): This traffic light tower is actually a replica of the first automatic traffic light in Berlin, which was actually erected on the same spot in 1924. In pre-war days, this area was Europe's busiest traffic junction at the time!

The architecture is amazing!

Spielbank Berlin...the casino where Dave will spend 98% of his time at. haha.

Can someone figure out this sculpture for me??

The dome yet again. It's amazing how huge it is.

Our apartment is the fourth level up and on the left side! Next time I'll ask Dave if he can wave out the window while I take the picture. haha

  1. Hope you are enjoying Berlin -- it is a great city!! I can't believe its been over 7 years since I was there. The Tiergarten is awesome. Have you been to Charlottenburg or San Souci? They are both amazing!

  2. Tiergarten is very cool...I definitely got lost in there a few days ago because it is so massive! Sadly, I did not get the chance to visit Charlottenburg or San Souci. I did all of my sightseeing by foot and tried to stay a comfortable distance to places I was familiar with because I was venturing alone most days:( Hopefully I'll get a chance to visit both places some day! Hope all is well! Keep in touch:)
