Bicycles, Environmentally friendly but dangerous to unsuspecting Americans

Only in Europe will you ever constantly fear the potential of being hit by a bicycle. I forgot that I had this fear in Amsterdam in the fall...but today, I remembered. The bicyclists comes out of NO WHERE. They swerve around you while you're still thinking of a plan to juke them out. The good news is, I haven't been hit by a bicycle yet...then again, I'm not holding my breath. I only see 500+ a day (and I was also forced to stay clear of a segway gang at one point today). Rant over.

I actually got a semi-early start today. Dave began playing at one, so after cleaning up the apartment a bit, I started to walk around the city. I took a few pictures in some areas before deciding that I was possibly heading down a sketch road. After about 5 catcalls and whistling of some sort, I decided to head back to the part of Berlin I was more familiar with. Here are pictures I was able to get!

St. Matthew's Church (St-Matthaus-Kirche)

Philharmonic and Chamber Music Hall. It's shaped so crazy!

Yup, that's the top of the Dome of the Sony Center...It looks like a circus tent.

I believe this is the Spree River.

Pink Pipes! They are actually water pipes that run throughout the city. Placing them above the ground lowers the chance that they freeze in the cold weather (Especially since under-Berlin is a swampy mess). Please note the bicyclist that likely had to avoid hitting me.

Blue pipes.

The Social Science Research Center of Berlin.

Another quick sidenote; every night around 9:30pm, the city of Berlin becomes extremely loud with chants and songs. The first night, Dave and I assumed it was because some soccer game was going on (if you know anything about Europeans, they LOVE soccer and they love singing and chatting at any sort of "sports" event, including poker, as witnessed at the Rio in June). However, I am starting to question the theory of "soccer game is on TV" because it has occurred EVERY night since we arrived. Anyone have any ideas? I'd find where all the yelling is coming from myself, but that sounds semi-dangerous. haha
